Drop Out Rate: The Past • Entered by school districts • The ability to locate students limited • Duplicate dropouts in the system in the same year and over multiple years
Drop Out Rate: The Present • Drop out pre-populated – districts able to find reentered dropouts across the state • The ability to remove duplicate dropouts in the same year across districts and only count the student once as a dropout in a four year period for the cohort • Only the last school accountable in the graduation rate
Drop Out Rate: The Future • Better reporting • Possible links with other states to assist in finding dropouts • Possible links with Higher Ed to see if/when how dropouts fare

Cohort Graduation Rate • The five-year implementation plan will cover the graduation cohorts of 2012 (entering 9th graders in 2008-09) through 2016 (entering 9th graders in 2012-13).
