Ⅰ Paradigm Shift
Paradigm Shift Emergence of Web 2.0 increased demand for participation, sharedness, openness, collaboration. Development of IT raised need for building various learning environments including resources, tools, and methods. Diversification of needs from users (teacher & student) increased demand for customized services. The trends of globalization and convergence triggered diverse attempts for Collaboration.
Current Educational Institutions Korea’s educational institutions Institutions Korea has the following schools, students, and teachers. > Learning environments should be diverse to meet user demand. Primary(6) – Middle(3) - High School(3) - University(4) K12 - 11,240 schools - 7.3M students - 412,000 teachers 407 colleges & universities, 3.6M students Outstanding achievement in PISA
Ⅱ Korea’s e-Learning
Ⅱ. Korea’s e-Learning Limitation I High cost and waste of resources due to overlapped development of content * sharing system: 91.6 billion=663,297(overlap prevented) * 9,203 won(minimum development cost) * 15 MPOE * CHLS : 292.8 billion=18.3 billion (MPOE: 107, KERIS:76) * 16(15 MPOE +KERIS) * standard application: 32.0 billion reduction= 2 billion* 16(15 MPOE +KERIS) Improvement demand for Cyber Home Learning from Students Major educational content development (2000~2008) Source: KERIS, 2009 Source: KERIS, 2009
Ⅱ. Korea’s e-Learning Limitation II Low accessibility due to subjection to environment(devices and platforms * Maintenance(customizing) cost: 22.73 billion won Limitation III Learning design impossible with methods other than sequencing, branching, remediation models validated by CHLS Limited learning methods due to givenlearning paths
