St. Lawrence University 2011 Planned Grounds Maintenance Schedule for Pesticide use on Turf and OrnamentalsMarcus Sherburne Grounds Manager
Changes for 2011 • In continuing in our effort to reduce pesticide usage on campus we are going to be using roughly half as much Roundup for 2011 as we did in 2010, we hope to achieve this by incorporating an organic herbicide as Roundup primary replacement. For 2011 I have chosen Burnout II as it worked better in our trials and was much easier to purchase as now our primary supplier for turf products will carry it for us. It has received some good reviews and is currently available and in quantity which will help keep the cost down. • GreenMatch worked but the rates are slightly higher with warmer air temperatures required for applications. I have found in any of the applications we will have to do multiple applications in some areas to achieve the desired goals of the product.
