Brainstorm: Superheroes • Spiderman, green lantern, batman, superman, wonder woman, silver surfer, captain planet, thor, the hulk, captain america, the fantastic four, captain underpants, wolverine, the x-men, storm, cat woman, kick-ass, iron man, black widow, teenage mutant ninja turtles, black panther, the tick, freakazoid, fairly-odd-parents, kung fu hound, master splinter, the incredibles, power rangers, thundercats, vr troopers, transformers, go-bot, the flash, aquaman, he-man, she-ra, power puff girls, courage the cowardly dog, samauri jack, scooby-doo, buffy, goku, van helsing, beowulf, xena, bill clinton, hercules, Ender, tarzan, gandalf the grey, the avengers, the justice league
Your Task • Split into four groups • Each group will choose a hero from the class’ brainstorm • Each group will then complete the handout, putting together a clear thesis statement with evidence to support why their superhero is better than all the rest. • PLEASE NOTE: your heroes ARE NOT fighting each other. You are providing examples/evidence based on what you know about their characters and what makes them superior. You are not basing your argument on who would win in a fight. • There will be three rounds of debate
And Finally… Last day to drop with a “W” is Friday, 4/19 Peer Review Homework Read pg 268-291 in T&C. Do the pre- and post-reading, and complete the pre-writing on page 292. Final draft of the comparison essay is due on Wednesday, 4/17 • Please exchange drafts with a partner. • Try to work with someone you haven’t already worked with this semester • Complete the handout provided • You may leave when you’re finished.
