Scenario Boston, MA Hillcrest Elementary School -- a school with 300 students in grades pre-K to 2nd -- has a 65% absentee level between the months of November and March. Parents report that children are kept home from school due to common cold symptoms (runny/stuffy nose), as well as for flu-like symptoms: fever, aches, and pains.
