Global Health Links ‘Health link is the name given to formal international health partnerships between a UK health institution and a counterpart organisation overseas. Public Health Wales Global Health WorkshopJune 2009 Aim: To develop a coherent strategy for the Public Health Wales NHS Trust in relation to the UK Public Health Strategy in particular and global health in general. Workshop report • Recognition of considerable amount of activity that public health staff are already involved in • Recognition that there was pressure and scope for global health activity in Wales to become better coordinated, in order to maximise the impact by fitting with UK, EU and international contexts. • We can all contribute • Wales can gain from this
Key Messages • Continue support for the Wales for Africa Health Links Network • Improve the coordination of all activities- this could take the form of a formal global health network • Ensure a consultant lead for global health.
