  3. Construction The Titanic was built between 1909 and 1912. The overall length was 269.1 metres and she was 28 metres wide.

  4. Facilities Onboard • First class passengers were treated with luxury and comfort. • They were also treated to: • Three electric elevators • A heated swimming pool • A gymnasium • A swimming pool • A Turkish bath • A squash court and many more.

  5. Maiden Voyage • The Titanic began her maiden voyage from Southampton bound for New York City on Wednesday 10th April 1912.

  6. The Sinking • On the evening of Sunday 14th April 1912, the weather for the Atlantic was unusual because there was a calm, flat sea without wind or swell.

  7. Aftermath • At 9pm on the 18th April 1912 the Carpathia arrived in New York City • Newspapers were filled with stories and descriptions of the disaster and were eager to get the latest news
