Construction: • The R.M.S Titanic was constructed in Belfast by the ship-building company Harland & Wolff. It had sixteen watertight compartments, which had doors designed to close automatically if the water level came over a certain height.
Facilities on board: • There were many facilities on the ship; including: A Squash & Racket court, a gymnasium, a heated swimming pool, libraries, high-class restaurants and much more.
Maiden Voyage • ‘The Unsinkable Titanic’ set off on it’s maiden voyage on the 10th April 1912 from Southampton, England.
The Sinking • The titanic sunk during the early hours of the 15th April 1912, after colliding with an iceberg in the icy Atlantic ocean it was found 71 years later in 1985, 4 Km down.
Aftermath Only 706 people survived the terrible disaster, 1531 people perished in the freezing, sub-zero waters!
