AAUW Funds • Contributions to AAUW Funds from all • sources totaled $3.7 Million in 2013 • ($521,088 camefrom CA) • We’ve been around a long time – 1st fellowship was created in 1888. • Over the 125 year period, $100 millionhas been given to 12,000 fellowship, grant, and award recipients from over 130 countries.

Legal Advocacy Fund • Works to challenge sex discrimination in higher education and the workplace • 18 community outreach programs • Gloria Weston Fund beneficiaries • 2 in California State Universities this year • numerous legal referrals • backing of major cases • Women workers denied promotions at Wal-Mart • Military veteran survivors of sexual assault • College university staff who are experiencing unfair pay
Educational Opportunities Fund Supports educational and lifelong learning opportunities • In 2013-14, $3.7 million awarded in fellowships and grants • to support 245 women (average award $15,100) • In 2012-13, $4.3 million awarded to 278women • 37recipients in California • American Fellowships International Fellowships • Career Development Grants International Project Grants • Community Action Grants Selected Professions Fellowships
Eleanor Roosevelt Fund • Groundbreaking research on issues related to gender equity in education and the workplace • 10 research publications since 2004 • Women in Community College: Access to Success (2013) • The Simple Truth about the Gender Pay Gap (2013) • Graduating to a Pay Gap: The Earnings of Women and Men One Year After College Graduation (2012) • Crossing the line: Sexual Harassment at School (2011) • Why So Few? Leadership Programs Fund Develops women’s potential to lead in their schools, communities, and country • 225 campuses$tart $mart: salary negotiation • The National Conference for College Women Student Leaders: Annual three-day conference • 11 Campus Action Projects: to deliver programs • 50 Elect Her Trainings:Teaches student leaders the skills to run for student government
Public Policy Fund Advocacy for public policies and laws that are fair to women • 1,200 congressional office visits in 2012 • weekly visits • to protect college access and affordability • reauthorize Violence Against Women Act • pass the Paycheck Fairness Act

Donations to AAUW Funds are tax deductible • Make checks payable to AAUW Funds • Or contribute online to: http://www.aauw.org/contribute/ • Contributions can be made in honor of someone • REMEMBER: If Funds donations are deposited into a branch checking account and one check is written to National, list every donor and their contact info when you send the check. AAUW Fundraising Policy 501 with Guidelines • Approved by AAUW Board February 2013 • Revised February 2014 • Implemented July 2014 • We must protect tax-exempt status of AAUW by adhering to IRS regulations and individual state laws while furthering the purpose for which we were all approved – advancing AAUW’s mission.
Fundraising Policy 501 Highlights • Branches must have Affiliate agreements with AAUW. • Funds raised using the name of AAUW must go to support its programs, activities, and services. • Before raising funds, you must decide how you intend to use them and advise donors in the solicitation. • Fundraising for other organizations at meetings/events or in publications is not allowed. • AAUW Action Fund donations are not tax deductible.
Fundraising Policy 501 Highlights continued Checks to AAUW Funds or to branches who are a 501C3 are tax deductible. If a gift is deposited into a non-501C3 branch and a branch writes a check to AAUW national, then the branch must advise AAUW national of the identity of the donors and the value of any goods or services that the donors may have received for the gift to be tax deductible. AAUW national can then send a receipt. AAUW national will send a receipt for any gift over $10.
