Laser Analysis Update Brett Wolfe July 30, 2008
Outline • Review of results • Problems with results • What I am doing about it • Tasks that still need to be done
Results so far… • My cuts were made on runs 54670 - 55430 for 607 total combined runs • Get dt plot for ten time bins • Fit a Gaussian to the largest peak and plot it over the measurement period • I also pol0 subtracted the results
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly • The dt plots look good ( pol1 slopes on order 10-8 ct/ct ) • Amplitude plots have pol1 slopes ~10-7 1/ct *1000 = 10-4 1/lifetime • The reference PMT amplitude itself is stable, but there is obvious noise we are picking up
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly • Many of the amplitude plots were questionable • We think it might have to do with the reference PMT noise
I have made a reference PMT amplitude cut to see how it affects the plots • David has my code, and will run it on the same section of runs and about 400 more • Because of the switch from Tungsten to Abe, this might take a little while • The window is from 137.5 to 173.5
Look here Make a small change I still need to work on the gain studies to find (∆G/G)/lifetime • I need to look at the change in the area of the energy on coincidence hits from small changes in energy
This factor can be multiplied by my amplitude slope to see the ppm effect it has on the lifetime • There are 10 coincidence pairs out of the 24 laser detectors • I will look at each pair’s factor • There are 170 runs available to me for this ranging from 31502 to 55399
