Read & Write Gold – What is it? • Software to help with reading, writing, studying, and research tasks. It is easy to use and builds confidence and independence. The support tools available for use at school, work, or home. • Customizable toolbar to keep students active, engaged and independent.
Who would benefit from RWG? • Students in K-12 • Students struggling to keep up the demands of college • People the Workplace • English Language Learners • Anyone
Overview of session • Reading/writing toolbar basics • Study skills/Vocabulary/Quizlet.com • Each feature will have a demonstration, time to practice, and time to reflect on application of the feature with students in your subject and/or grade level.
Reading practice • Select a website (that students may use) • Activity on page 2
Reflection • On a word document: • If you were to go back to your classroom tomorrow, how would you apply the reading and writing features shown? • Take two minutes to write down your thoughts.
Study skills practice • Demonstrate using highlighting • Activity on page 25 & 26 • Select a topic and break it down into three categories
