What is MRSA? • It’s a strain of Staph infection that is resistant to the group of antbiotics called betalactams ie penicillin • Spread by bacteria going into cuts or open wounds
Symptoms • MRSA infection will produce pimple or boils that will swell and could be painful and drain pus • If not treated can lead to pneumonia, meningitis, or toxic shock syndrome
Treatment • MRSA is resistant to penicillin and other antibiotics in the same family • Antibiotics have been made that don’t let the bacterium to break down the antibiotic
Cures • There are not any quick cure • Infections are cured with aid of antibiotics and coving up infections so that they can’t spread
Prevention • Cleaning wounds and washing clothes and hands helps prevent infection • Alcohol is a helpful surface sanitizer
