  1. My Journal My Ancient Egypt experience

  2. Day One Food: In 11,000 BCE I went to Ancient Egypt (I am a tourist) I watched and asked people how they would provide food for themselves and they said: We ancient Egyptians would hunt for farming animals and some of our crops. Animals are one of the most important things of farming. Animals help you with jobs like trampling in the seeds, pulling a plough, eating unwanted grain or wheat, and providing you with food and drinks. Also, we Would be supplied by the Nile River with a bundle of fish.

  3. Day two Clothing: On my second day some of the Egyptians showed me how flax was made for clothing. They told me that: clothing was mostly made of flax. Flax is a plant with small leaves, blue flowers and a 2feet tall stem. You had to pull out the flax instead of cutting it. Flax stems are soaked for several days. But if the stems were too ripe we will use it for string and mats. Then the fibres are beaten until they are soft. Then the spinner attached the fibres to the spindle. Then the fibres would be twisted into strong threads. The weaving is done on a loom. White linen need to be washed regularly. Linen clothes need to be repleated every time they were washed.

  4. Day Three Buildings and structures: On my third day I was out exploring and thinking about how the ancient Egyptians built these great houses and buildings. While I was studying them one of the owners of the house came out and was wondering what I was doing. I told her I was just thinking how these were made. And she went on and explained: These houses are made of bricks. The bricks are made of mud and chopped straw. We mixed the mud and straw and then poured the mixture into these moulds. The moulds are placed in the sun to bake into hard bricks! Some of the tools used to make our homes is the T-square which is used for measuring angles. We also have a mallet, which is a big hammer.. We have the brick moulds to make bricks, we have plumb lines which we use to make sure the houses are built straight and level!

  5. Day four Transportation: Today I didn’t want to walk and do more exploring, today I just wanted a way to transport myself. I saw a man and woman on some sort of carriage and when they stoped I asked them what sort of transport could I use instead of walking? They told me: There are four ways of transportation The fastest way to get around was on a chariot.  Usually men would stand in the chariot, which was like a small open carriage which can be pulled by one or two horses. A chariot could go about 25 MP/H.  The horses were steered by reins.  Reins are like a belt that were tied on all the horses necks.Chariots were used mostly for battles or wars.  The battle warrior would be holding reins in one hand and in the other hand would be a spear..Not many people had a chariot because they didn’t need one. We only needed chariots if we are in a hurry!

  6. Day 5 Today I was really interested in the cultural expressions and asked a guy what their main cultural expressions are. The main area for cultural expressions here are architecture, represented by burial, complexes and temples. These structures were grand with colourful reliefs and statues. The most famous forms in Ancient Egyptian architecture are the pyramids, used to house the bodies of dead kings (and sometimes even queens) and everything he needed in the afterlife. The largest pyramids are found near Giza, where that of Khufu reaches an height of about 140 metres. The pyramids belong to a relatively short period of Egyptian history, peaking in the middle of the 3rd millennium BCE.The pyramid era would be overlapped and eventually followed by the temple and burial chamber era. Great temples would remain the supreme form of Egyptian architecture right up until the decline of Ancient Egypt.

  7. The temples are designed to a consistent pattern, typically with an entrance (pylon), open forecourt(s), roofed hall and the inner sanctuary. The width narrowed the further one got into the temple, and only priests were allowed in the sanctuary. The temples are spread out over all of Ancient Egypt, but the greatest examples are found in southern Egypt, peaking with the temples around modern Luxor.

  8. Day 6 I didn’t do anything today I was really tired and I just wanted a rest. All I did today was: sit in my little “rented” home and sat down and ate some fish, and had a god rest in my bed.

  9. Day 7 Today a man came up to me and knew that I was a tourist and he started explaining about the cultural structures they have here and he said: The culture of our society possesses many different aspects. One of the most important ones is the Nile River, to the everyday life of an Egyptian. The river is also known as "The Gift of the River”.This shows how the Egyptians felt indebted to the Nile for the overall existence of our society. Also, the Nile River is viewed in a very special manner that make the waters into a god. The power of the river was only rivalled by the life-giving but destructive force of the sun. Another main aspect of the our society is our religious system. We worship many gods but the gods have a hierarchy that gave certain gods more power and importance we named our gods after many of the earthly features around us. For example, we have gods just for animals like frogs, fish, cats, and crocodiles. The importance of the gods and other deities can be seen by the fact that gods are found all throughout our culture.

  10. We look to the gods for the success of our crops, oursafety throughout the day, and also as a source for our great existence and creations. Another main aspect of our culture is the importance of the arts. Countless numbers of artefacts we found are covered in artistic representations and colourful drawings. These drawings help to reflect specific information about our culture and also serve as a sign that artistic activity is encouraged during this time. A large number of these decorative pieces are used in burials and in the tombs of our dead pharaoh’s and other respected officials. It is necessary for a pharaoh to have ornate decorations all throughout his tomb so that he enters the afterlife properly.

  11. Day 8 Today I just had another big rest!

  13. Day 10

  14. I think that this place needed “up grades” because these rooms were uncomfortable they needed proper beds for someone like me who has a big comfortable bed in 2028. the Egyptians needed a better way of transport then just carriages and boats and donkeys and camels, they needed petrol and motors and cars they needed to be taught how to use 2028 modern technology and it would have been a lot easier, they needed at least to use steam to get around instead of slow donkeys and camels that would tire out. They should have made a better way to make use of all their animals and should get better houses because at night it was very dark and warm, (a bit uncomfortable). Other than that it was really good in Egypt!
