Where Did the Program Come From? • Partnership with Inclusion US (the WAY Program) • Based on NotSchool from the United Kingdom • 10 years • 10000 students • 98% success rate
Who Do We Service? • At-Risk, High School Aged Youth • 60 Researchers in the First Cohort (Feb 2010) • 31 Males; 29 Females • All Four Grade Levels (9th-12th) • 13 Home Cities • 40 Previous Schools
Timeline for Clio Global Academy • Found program in November 2009 • Board approved moving forward in December 2009 • Trained staff and purchased equipment in January 2010 • Inducted 60 researchers in February 2010
Program Growth • Started with 60 researchers in February 2010. • Program now has 240 researchers with over 200 students on a waiting list! • Have received phone inquiries from across the State of Michigan (as well as from other states).
What Do We Do? • Re-engage students • Put education in the hands of the student • Offer a high school diploma • Provide the researcher’s (student’s) tools: • iMac Computer • Digital Camera • Internet Connectivity
How Do We Do This? • Each team has one team leader, 10 mentors, and 60 researchers • One mentor for each six students • Individualized communication • Cyber Experts to assess proficiencies
The Learning Community • 365 days per year • 24 hours per day • Adult online at all times for support and advice • Secure learning environment • Ability to collaborate with others • Includes the international portal
