1st Meeting • Problem solve student concerns • Use the PSM Tier III paperwork (page no. 1) • Consider ICEL (instruction, curriculum, environment, learner) • Develop an assessment plan • Plan should consider RIOT (review, interview, observe, test) • Set a date for second meeting
Time Between 1st and 2nd Meeting • Gather data based on assessment plan • Take no more than two weeks to gather data
2nd Meeting • Set goals using Tier III paperwork (page no. 2) • Goals come from baseline data collected during assessment plan • Should have two goals • One goal based on growth rates (short-term) • One goal based on benchmark scores (long-term) • Decide on best guess about why problem is occurring and how you plan to fix the problem
2nd Meeting • Describe goals in measurable terms • Eggbert will increase his oral reading fluency from 32 words correct per minute to 60 words correct per minute with less than 5 errors, in eight weeks time when given a 3rd grade DIBELS ORF progress monitoring probe. • Describe intervention who, when, where, how often • Describe how student will be monitored
Between 2nd and 3rd meeting • Intervene based on plan for 6 to 8 weeks • Progress monitor intervention 2 to 3 times per week • Graph data with aimlines based on goals • Change intervention if data suggests a change is needed • Document change
3rd Meeting • Go over completed graph • Fill out page 5 of Tier III paperwork • Need to make a decision about how to proceed
