Special Education DivisionGOALS 2011- 12 1. Improve the achievement of all students with disabilities. 2. Create a more unified system by collaborating with general education. 3. Develop a system of Response to Intervention to prevent inappropriate referrals to special education.

DHH Program Goals(Strategic Plan) • Goal 1: Students , birth through age 21, will reach their full potential linguistically, socially and academically . • Goal 2: Administrators, teachers and support staff will be highly qualified, participate in ongoing professional development, maintain high expectations for all students and provide data-driven instruction.
DHH Program Goals(Strategic Plan) Goal 3: Parents of students receiving services in the D/HH Program will be encouraged to: • Learn to communicate effectively with their child, through spoken language and/or sign • Have an awareness of the cross-cultural challenges facing their child
DHH Program Goals(Strategic Plan) • Inform themselves of curriculum content and standards • Be aware of the instructional and support service options accessible to DHH students • Participate in development of educational and transition plans • Be familiar with the legal rights of deaf and hard of hearing students • Generally be engaged and informed about their student’s schooling.
