Chapter 10 WRITE JOB DESCRIPTIONS • A job description is a written statement listing the duties and responsibilities of a job. • It is crucial to understand exactly what every job entails; ultimately helps manage employees SAMPLE JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Receptionist Duties and responsibilities: Receives and directs phone calls, greet visitors, receives and sorts mail and packages, orders office and kitchen supplies, keys documents when required. Qualifications: High school graduate. Needs good communication skills and ability to get along with people. Keying speed of 45 words per minute. Experience desirable but not necessary. Salary: $15,000 - $20,000, depending on experience.

For example, if a college degree is required dispose of the resumes from individuals who do not have one • Interview job applicants • Provides opportunity to further screen applicants; meet and greet
