God has a language for YOU !!! • Interpreting God’s Language • Dreams & Visions • Interpreting Dreams & Visions • Prophetic Terminology • Practical Session INTERPRETING DREAMS & VISIONS
God has a Language for YOU !!! • God wants to Communicate with His children, thus He has a Language in which He communicates !! • We need to understand this Language, in order to be able to truly HEAR God’s Voice and to understand (have insight into) what He is trying to communicate to us. • God speaks to us in Visions, Dreams, Audibly, through Nature, Impressions, Discernment, Supernatural Revelation, Natural things (parables), Love, Internal Peace as well as Conviction. • Each of these points have to be interpreted differently. • The most common way for the Prophetic Messages is Visions, as well as words that bubble up within your spirit man. (eg Jeremiah, Zechariah vs Isaiah, Nathan) • God is WORD – and WORD SPEAKS (Gen 1, Joh 1:1) • Godly Love and Compassion are keys to unlock the Prophetic Gifting (1 Cor 13) • But there are other ways too, like, Praying, Worship, Studying the Bible etc. • Find the Pathway that works for you, but don’t let that hinder you in hearing from God in other ways too!! • Learn to TRUST GOD when He wants to Reveal new secrets / mysteries unto you. Be open for His ways and don’t run away or rebel like Jonah did (Jonah 1:3, 4:9)
God has a Language for YOU !!! • God would normally start off with using a language that will fit into your frame of reference (Jer 1:11-16) • But the more you grow and allowing for Him to expand more, He will start giving you images that you might not know or understand and have to seek for the full answer/meaning in different places – like the Scriptures or Books • But the best way is to wait on God to give you the layout Himself. Usually that will help you in Growing in Knowing His Voice and that will help you in Flowing in His Spirit • There are no hard and set rules, only endless possibilities and Interpretations. • He is the Giver of the Dreams and Visions, and He knows what He wants to communicate at that very moment !! • Take His messages seriously. Make time and put in some effort to work with Him to move into the understanding. • Never think that you know it all. Then you will open a way for yourself to fall into traps very quickly. And it isn’t that easy to come out of it.
Interpreting God’s Language • You’ll find that you will need to Interpret all of what we have spoken about already • THUS: Discernment is Very IMPORTANT. Learn to discern in the Spirit and to understand the FLOW of the Holy Spirit. He tends to reveal secrets from the deepest places in the heart of man. • Don’t Limit God – He is Greater and Mightier than you’ll ever be able to imagine - and ALL Knowing - Omnipotent • What to Look for: • Detail – Direction, Colour, Quantity, Size, What Stands out, What is Hidden or Obvious, Left, Right, Front, Back, Above or Below, etc… • Conformed to Scripture, OR Confirmed by/with Scripture • Faces – is it towards you, turned sideways or away, Facial Expressions (sad, Smile, Crying, Head hanging Down) etc... • TRUST God – He won’t give you Words and Visions etc that are not Uplifting or Edifying… (Luk 11:10-13,Heb 13:5,8) • FAITH is the Bases to Hear from God. In order to Prophecy (i.e. speak forth what you have received), you must Believe.. • Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is (exists), and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. • 2Cor 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight: • Remember – you are Joined with God in Spirit – thus it might FEEL like it is your own thoughts when you Hear from God, but it is actually God speaking to you and In you, and even through you sometimes. Give Him all the Glory !!! • 1Cor 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one Spirit.
DREAMS & VISIONS… • Joel 2:28-29And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out My Spirit. • Visions:There are several ways in which Visions come… • In a Quick Flash: – Like a Picture that just popped up in your mind for a moment. Could be a few of them, not necessarily just 1 picture, but they come in flashes – with time span in between them • Clear Rolling Picture that unfolds as you watch: – You get a picture – and then as you watch it, it carries on from there and becomes almost like a story (like a movie) • A Trance-Like State: - You are becoming a part of the vision, unaware of your surroundings, and it is as if the time is standing still for you – like, Catherine Cullman, or Ezekiel, (eg: Eze 37) • Eze 37:1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones… • A Vision where you verbally communicate with the person in the vision: - You can smell, taste, feel etc. A Very REAL Experience (eg: John on Patmos with the Elders in Rev 5 or the Angels in Rev 19, and even Ezekiel eating the book roll in Eze 3:1-3) • Dreams – God speaks to us in Dreams because we are then removed from any activity and are able to see clearly without interfering… • Although dreams are not part of the 9 gifts, they are a promise from the Old Testament, and a free Gift from the Holy Spirit.
Interpreting Dreams & Visions • Because Dreams and Visions comes to us mostly in “symbolism”, we thus need to be able to interpret the symbolism. • Like Jesus spoke in Parables – using an example of an every day situation, to describe the message whatever He was trying to bring across to the people. • The Bible is full of these symbols – like: a Dove, Water, Fire, Light, Leven, Mustard seed, Bread, Wine, Oil, etc. • BUT: it doesn’t stop there. We have things today that didn’t exist in bible times, like Cars, Busses, Balloons, Computers, Sports elements (like, Golf, Tennis), etc. • God can use these symbols as well to convey a message to His listeners. And we need to know what these things mean as well… • THUS: Don’t ever limit God !!! • Quick Hints what to look for in a vision: • Direction • Color • Detail, like Left or Right, In the Back or in the Front • Conformed to Scripture, or Confirmed by Scripture • Is it moving away, or is it coming back • Face – is it towards you, sideways, or turned away, or head hanging, Facial Expressions (sad, smile, crying, etc) • Number of Objects • What stands out & what is hidden (obvious)
DREAMS & VISIONS… • Some examples: • Joseph – in Gen 37 – where he dreamt God’s plan with his future, and he could also later interpret Pharo’s dream… • Daniel had dreams and visions, and could even interpret other people’s dreams • Jacob’s dreams he had – where he saw the Angels on the Ladder • To find out if a dream is from God, you can pray for the understanding of it like Daniel did in Dan 2. • And then wait on the interpretation. If the dream stays with you, then God is keeping it in your remembrance because He wants you to understand it. • Write your dreams in a Journal with as much detail as possible. This is something to keep practicing and so you will GROW in Understanding and Interpretations over time… • NOTE: • Dreams is mostly for ourselves, cause that is the times when we are most quiet, and our spirit gets a chance to listen to God without any interruptions. • Whereas Visions are mostly for other people – but it can be for ourselves too. • IMPRESSIONS: When Spiritual information comes to you without any Vision, Scripture or anything you can voice or pinpoint. • You just know certain things and have an overwhelming urge to do or say something • It is a Spiritual impression that goes to your mind, and you’re able to function and just do and/or say without questioning or holding back. • Speaking in Tongues is a good example of this.
