  5. Objective Upon completion of this module, the students will identify and state the mission of the US&R TFwithin a known or suspected WMD environment

  6. Mission To ensure all US&R TF members can safely achieve structural collapse rescues within or near a known or suspected WMD environment Additional mission is to assist with other missions in accordance with Federal directives

  9. Staffing • Standard 70 person TF (air deployed) with the flexibility to add additional drivers for ground deployment • 10 Haz Mat Specialists • One to each rescue squad (4 total) • Two for decon • Two for safety coordination • Two for search team protection

  11. Integration • Haz Mat, canine handlers, and Medical personnel integrated according to mission • TF Leader has flexibility to alter before, during, and after incident depending on the situation There is no set organization to match all possible scenarios. Be flexible to last-minute changes.

  12. Operational Parameters • All US&R TF resources available • TF personnel receive required training • Local support for air and water • Standardized procedures meet existing guidelines • Support by DHS and other agencies

  20. Structural Assessment (Triage Team) • Used when TF has three or more buildings • Team has 2 Haz Mat and 2 Structural Specialists • May deploy as two teams • No search until triage complete • Structural assessment while establishing BoO and gather intel

  21. Structural Assessment (Triage Team) • Haz Mat use point source detection • Area detection may be available • Level B or C PPE • Traditional protocols may not work • Haz Mat Spec and TFL evaluate and set level of PPE
