For Next Class and Lab • For Next Class and or LAB: Come with Plotting Sheet Set Up with Mid-Latitude 18°S, Mid-Longitude 71° East. • Plot and Label a 0600 Star Fix at Lat. 19° 05.0’S, Long. 72° 35.0’ E. Lay out your course 342° T and DR out every hour based on a speed of 18kts. • Bring Almanac, 229, calculator and Plotting equipment with your Universal Plotting Sheet. • This will be a graded exercise.
Quiz # 6 • 1. On March 18th, 2004 @0836-06 ZT in Position Lat 18° 30’ S, 072° 05’E you observed an azimuth of the sun bearing 081.0° PGC. What is the gyro error of the gyro compass? (assume no repeater error) • 2. After calculating the azimuth and gyro error you perform a compass check to determine deviation and compass error? If your vessel is heading 058° PGC and 068° PSC, with Variation 13° W. What is the deviation and compass error? • 3. On March 18th, You observed LAN (Lower Limb) at 1213-26 ZT your DR Longitude is 028°15’W. You were facing south at the time of the observation. Your Ho is 85° 23’. What is your Latitude? If your course was 050°T at 25 knots what would have been your latitude at 1200? • 4. Using the GHA Method of LAN determine the time of LAN for two different vessels which have the followinng Mer Pass. DR Longitudes on March 18th • 105° 26’W • 96° 15’E
