2. Introduction Our solar system is a large exciting place. It is full of planets, moons, asteroids, minor planets, and many other exciting objects. Your mission this week is to learn as much as you can about the planet Jupiter because you will be taking a journey there!

3. Mission1 • Your first mission will be to gather information about the Planet Jupiter before leaving on your journey. • Listed below are a series of questions you must answer before boarding the space shuttle. You will find the answers by going to this website: • www.manatee.k12.fl.us/sites/elementary/samoset/psgk3ex.htm • What order is Jupiter from the sun? • Is it a small or large planet? • What gas is Jupiter mostly made of? • What is Jupiter’s red spot? • Does Jupiter have rings? • List one interesting fact you found about Jupiter. • Predict what it might be like when you land on Jupiter.

Mission2 • Your second mission will be to compare Jupiter to our planet Earth. • Look for information about the : • Atmosphere • Size • Number and Names of moons • Temperature • Revolution/Rotation • What the planet is made of • How much would you weigh on both planets Print out the Venn Diagram on the next page. 6. Mission3 • In you’re last mission, you will be asked to take a trip to Jupiter. Write a paragraph where you describe the following: • What you needed before you left (What kind of food, clothes, vehicle, etc..) • What you see, hear, and feel as you travel through space? How long does it take you? • What do you see, hear, and feel as you arrive on Jupiter and travel through the atmosphere? • Include a picture of the planet as you saw it on your travels and draw yourself on it. You can choose to draw the planet or print one from a website. Process • Before you leave on your journey to Jupiter, you must answer all the missionquestions by going to the websites. • Your answers must be recorded neatly and on a separate sheet of paper. • You’re Venn Diagram must be completely filled out. • Print or draw the planet Jupiter with yourself on it. • You will be asked to share one thing with the class that you learned or found interesting about the planet Jupiter.
