  3. Librarianship in the 21st century • Patrons are becoming more tech oriented, and they expect their libraries to follow suit. • Library staff must be tech savvy in order to serve patrons better.

  4. OPAC vs CARD CATALOG • The majority of libraries have gone to an online catalog. • Patrons are often confused about how to utilize the OPAC effectively. • Catalog interfaces are not always standard from one library to another.

  5. It’s a digital world! • Libraries are becoming the go-to place for people to learn how to use their devices. • Ebooks and audio downloads are becoming more popular.

Statistics: Who Uses Social Networking Sites Current information as of January, 2014 Social networking and the library • According to the Pew Research Center, 74% of all internet users are involved in social networking, such as Facebook and Twitter. • Libraries can use this trend to their advantage.
