Enrollment on Long Island • 2005 - 2011 • Long Island: declined 4.2 % • West Hempstead SD: declined 8.6 % (204 students) • 2011 – 2014 • Long Island: additional 3.4 % decrease • West Hempstead SD: 3.8 % decrease (83 students)
Other Factors • Housing • Sales have plummeted on Long Island • New construction has stalled • Values have decreased • Non-Public Enrollment: • Nassau County: declined to 13.8% • West Hempstead: has been stable – 38.9% in 2011
