They thrive for several centuries until Aksum comes along. • Aksum is now Ethiopia and Eritrea. What are its supposed origins? What are believed to be its historical origins? • Location= perfect for trade. Major intermediary between Rome and India. • Ezana leads Aksum to its height (AD 325-360). He conquers Kush and burns Meroe to the ground.
