Discover the benefits of becoming a writing coach at SHS's student-staffed Writing Center. Gain leadership, enhance relationships, and help others become better writers through coaching. Explore entrepreneurship opportunities in college and learn about various coaching roles – The Ally, The Commentator, The Collaborator, The Expert, The Learner. Coaching involves safe, collaborative questioning and modeling. All students, across any subject and stage of the writing process, can receive coaching in Writing Center or classrooms. Customize your schedule from Monday to Thursday, after school or free periods, and during lunch. Only commit 3-4 hours per month based on your grade level. Apply by linking to the online application from the school email or Writing Center webpage. Attend informational meetings before Finals Week and sign a commitment letter by September to start coaching. Engage in after-school training seminars and workshops to refine your coaching skills.
