How to apply • Selection to and working in specialising physician positions requires that the applicant in suited to work in the specialty • The selection process takes place within the health service system • Should be: • application • selection • planning
Specialist training • The specialising physicians are responsible for finding a post for training by themselves • Should be • Structured • Logical • Starting from primary health care, • Then to surgery of gyn&Ob outside of university hospital, with basic training • University Training 2-3 yrs
Including • ”First line manager training” (30 ECTSs), training for practical leadership and management • Should also include • Research • Scientific writing
Theoretical training • Now: 80 hours of theoretical courses • National specialist exam (6 hours) • Should be: • Structured courses (now partly organized by the Finnish Gyn Society) • Yearly exams, arranged by the University responsible for the trainee
