PROCESS FOR NEW COURSES • Integrated into existing course development and approval processes • Title approved by ADC • Course record created in SITS • KIS course record created • Course displayed on UoB course finder website • In-cycle KIS submission • Follows ADC calendar • Includes KIS records for all new course titles and course stage estimates • Validation • Course stage estimates reviewed/ confirmed (ASC02) • Non-LTA course information submitted (KIS course info amendment form)

NEW COURSE: TYPICAL PATHWAY • Initial display of learning/ teaching and assessment data • Estimated for each course stage/ year of study • Based on realistic planning assumptions • ADC01E submitted within 4 weeks of ADC • Changes to estimates following validation: ASC02 • Typical pathway introduced as students take modules

PROCESS FOR COURSES IN PERIODIC REVIEW • Applies to review of courses during current academic session • Annual KIS preparation (May onwards) • Institutional schedule of periodic review circulated for confirmation • Notification of major changes expected • Amendments (i) annual submission or (ii) in-cycle • Periodic review • ASC02: course stage estimates for each year with major changes • KIS course info amendments form: confirmation of compulsory sandwich years/ years abroad, integrated foundation years, non credit-bearing (threshold) assessment tasks, PT only mode of attendance, accreditation, and accommodation • New modules • Module records created by faculty/ school CAMS officer

PROCESS FOR COURSES IN PERIODIC REVIEW (2) • LTA data estimated for each course stage where modules changed • Notification of estimates for affected course stages: ASC02 • e.g. BA(Hons) University Challenge reviewed in 2012-13 • modules in year 1 and 3 change, year 2 modules remain unchanged • changes effective from Sep 2013 for all students

PROCESS FOR NON-PERIODIC REVIEW COURSE CHANGES • Changes automatically reflected in typical pathway • May come from other schools/ modules owned by other courses • annual module changes • periodic review • Amendments reflected through regular module maintenance in CAMS • Other e.g. accreditation • Use KIS course information amendments form

MODULE MAINTENANCE • LTA data automatically rolled forward from previous year’s MAV record • Module changes are approved by FABs in the usual manner • Amendments only necessary following approval of changes to learning activities or assessment methods • KIS typical pathway: system will automatically select the appropriate year and module record • Module maintenance should continue without reference to potential effects of changes on a KIS

PROCESS FOR ADDING ACCREDITATION • PSRBs drawn from HESA list of recognised accrediting bodies • List updated annually by HESA • Can request that PSRBs be added to list • Details submitted through KIS course info amendments form • Annual publication of University list of PSRB engagements • New accreditations added • Withdrawn/ expired accreditations removed • Faculty Office provides details as needed

PROGRAMME SPECIFICATIONS • Published annually on staffcentral by Faculty Offices • As PDF documents • To appear alongside widget on course finder page • Naming convention • Non-KIS course: PS MA University Challenge 2013 • KIS course: KPS BA(Hons) University Challenge 2013 • URL of published specifications for KIS courses submitted to Registry annually • Can be amended in-cycle by overwriting the original version on staffcentral
