  2. Group Questions Biblically, when should we pass judgement on the practices and beliefs of other believers? What criteria must we use? How does this relate to our culture’s emphasis on “tolerance”? “Because we do believe so strongly in the importance of sound doctrine, we can easily become hypercritical of those with whom we disagree.” What do you think is the proper balance between (a) standing up for key biblical doctrine, and (b) expressing disagreement with advocates of unsound doctrine in ways that do not degenerate into character assassination? How has the judgementalism of Christians affected churches? Their witness in the community?

  3. Judgementalism Assuming the role of God, by judging other people’s motives and actions by using our own human standards and human understanding on matters that are not clear in Scripture.

  4. Matthew 7:1-5 "Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

  5. Matthew 7:15-20 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?... Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
