The Institute of Economics and Management of Nantes – IAEPRESENTATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS 1
The University of Nantes : • The President • The Vice-President of International Relations (VP RI) • The Division of International Relations (DRI) • The Universitary Commission for International Relations (CURI)
How is the management of mobility distributed? International Relations of the IEMN-IAE : • Student mobility : - outgoing students: from communication to students, to selective process. • incoming students : information to partners, welcoming ceremony and management of pedagogical aspects. + activities to create an exchange between incoming and outgoing students • Teacher mobility : • incoming teachers : welcome and presentation of the institute. • Outgoing teachers : financial aspects are dealt with at CURI level and by financial service. • Staff mobility : - Not very much developed at the institute.
Aspects dealt in partnership with other structures or levels: Division of International Relations: - « Guichet Unique »: to answer all pratical questions on the arrival of incoming students (housing, administrative procedures, etc) • Scholarships to outgoing students (final decision+payment) - Organization of language classes («langues Modimes » = “LWULT” languages) IRFFLE (Institute of Research on French tought as a foreign language): -offers a variety of French classes for foreign students according to needs and levels (intensive classes, night classes, etc).
Association « Maison des Chercheurs Etrangers »: - Help for foreign reseachers (administrative procedures, French language classes, housing, etc) • Advice and information to research services wishing to develop international dimension and/or to welcome foreign researchers Student association « Autour du Monde »: • Develops activities to integrate foreign students to campus life • Creates exchanges out of the campus (« cafés polyglottes », tours and visits)
The IEMN-IAE is quite autonomous in the management of Internationals Relations but → there is a global tendency to centralize the decision power and to give the role of representative to bigger structures → in order to have more visibility. Example: PRES (Pôle de Recherche et d’Enseignement Supérieur) = grouping of universities, institutes, ingeneering schools, at a regional level. → impact for International Relations: definition of common priorities (geographical areas, international Masters, international research projects…).
