Europe’s Waterways The Arctic Ocean bordersthe continent to the north. The Atlantic Ocean is to the west and the southern coast of Europe borders the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
Europe’s Rivers • Europe’s rivers include: the highly traveled Rhine and Danube rivers. The Volga, which flows nearly 2,200 miles through western Russia, is the continent’s longest.
Europe’s Landforms Along the jagged shoreline of this peninsula are beautiful fjords. A long , narrow, deep inlet of sea located between steep cliffs. Europe has several large peninsulas. A body of land with water on three sides.
Europe’s Mountain Ranges The Iberian Peninsula is separated from the rest of the continent by a mountain range called the Pyrenees. Other mountains include: the Alps and the Ural Mountains, which divide Europe from Asia.
The Great European Plain • A vast region called the Great European Plain stretches from the coast of France to the Ural Mountains. It is some of the world’s richest farmland.
