Highlights of 2006 Activities • Highlights of 2006 activities • Inaugurated “hey recent Senior Member, sponsor-a-senior-member” program. We upgraded 26, we got 4 volunteers for committee activities. • Accepted proposal from a member desiring an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer to speak at his company. 105 attended, signed up 16 new members.
Name two most successful activities that your section had in 2006 and reason for their success. • Name two most successful activities that your section had in 2006 and reason for their success. - Volunteer wanted to promote IEEE meetings in his local area rather than miles away. Result, Engineering Management Chapter renewal and Power Engineering Chapter planned. The company involved is Walgreens Corporate. - Developed Steering Committees for the NWss and several chapters that were dormant. Nobody wants the responsibility to be chair, so Member Development took over.
Plan for 2007 • Report the activities you are planning for 2007 - Continue the Senior Member upgrade initiative. Use periodic doubling as the goal. - Arrange for meetings at Zip-coded locations. - Assure that members without e-mail addresses get meeting announcements and RAB, TAB and Stds e-mailings – send postcard requesting they respond by e-mail, assure spam & virus free distribution, and keep their address private.
How Can R4 Help in Meeting Your Section’s Goals? • Name 2-3 items that Region 4 can do to help your section achieve its goals - Find a way for students at non-Branch colleges to have a group Branch without requiring them to join with a present Branch. .
- Find a way for Standards Associates to achieve recognition as an Affinity Group - Request that IEEE create a member Grade Code of US and GS (or SU and SG) so that we can identify Graduate students for volunteer chapter officers using SAMIEEE
