  3. Philosophy • Empirical research shows that all students can learn to sing. • Academic - not extra! • Full Credit Given • Sacred Music • Musical Heritage and Culture • Texts will be discussed.

  4. All Kids Can Learn To Sing! Research shows that musical talent is not a fixed trait. Both boys and girls go through a vocal mutation (change). Students will improve with consistent effort and attention to classroom instruction.

  6. Performance Dates • December 15 – Holiday Concert • May 14 or 15 – OMEA Choir Contest • May 25 - Spring Concert ----------------------------------------- • March 27– Solo and Ensemble Contest • Participation is at the discretion of the instructor.

  7. Fair Grading Policy Students enter 7th Grade at different stages of vocal development and have had varying degrees of exposure to music reading and theory. If a student puts forth a strong effort and contributes fully to the rehearsals, I will minimize the effect of music theory and vocal skills tests on the quarter grade.
