Test Administrator’s Goals Remember the Following Goals • Make the testing experience as pleasant as possible for students and encourage them to do their best • Minimize distractions for students • Adhere to the testing times • Protect the security of the PARCC Field Test • Keep in mind the purpose of the PARCC Field Test
What to Expect • There may be a few minor glitches during the Field Test • PARCC will learn from any issues that arise and apply that knowledge toward the development of the fully operational tests that students will take in spring 2015. • The Field Test is one of many steps in the effort to plan and develop accommodations for students with disabilities and English language learners. • PARCC is testing the tests therefore results for students, schools or districts will not be released.
PARCC Field Test Schedule Reminder: Students taking the Science NECAP in grades 4 and 8 and 11 will not participate in the Field Test EOY component.
Field Test Schedule Guidelines for Testing Time Total Field Test Administration Time = Session Time + Additional Time Example: Grade 3 ELA/Literacy Refer to pp. 4-8in the CBT/PBT TAM

To Prepare the Testing Environment : Cover or remove prohibited materials from the testing room It is not necessary to cover or remove calendars, posters displaying the alphabet or consonant blends, or posters displaying the Pledge of Allegiance Before Testing: Testing Environment Refer to pp. 15-17 22in the CBT TAM; pp. 12, 14-16, 19-20 in the PBT TAM

ADMINISTER THE PARCC FIELD TEST Log in to PearsonAccess to make CBT test available Read the appropriate scripts in TAM* Distribute materials to students Keep time Supervise test administration Maintain test security (Optional) provide breaks *RIDE strongly recommends that you read through scripts in TAM, especially for computer-based testing, prior to first day of testing. 2) Read the Appropriate Script Read word-for-word all text that is boxed and printed in bold type and preceded by the word “Say” Use professional judgment For CBT, assist students with log-in errors During Testing Refer to pp. 22, 25-119in the CBT TAM; pp. 20, 23-143 in the PBT TAM
3) Distribute Materials Distribute the appropriate test materials when instructed to do so Instruct students to print their names on the following: Scratch paper Test booklets Answer documents (for grades 4 – high school) During Testing Refer to p. 23 in the CBT TAM; p. 21 in the PBT TAM
4) Keep Time Keep accurate time For CBT, TestNav will not “lock” a student out when time is complete Refer to Appendix E in either TAM for RIDE’s policies on what students can or cannot do when they’ve completed testing During Testing:Testing Time Refer to p. 23in the CBT TAM; p.21 in PBT TAM
During Testing:Testing Time (continued) Refer to pp. 4-8in the CBT/PBT TAM Guidelines for Testing Time • If all students have completed testing at the end of the “Session Time,” the session may end • Once the Total Field Test Administration Time has been reached, the test session must end • A student may be allowed extended time accommodations only if listed in his or her IEP or 504 Plan (or EL Plan, if required) • Refer to Appendix E in either TAM for RI’s policies on what students can do after testing.
5) Supervise Test Administration Be an active proctor Redirect a student’s attention to the test without coaching or assisting the student in any way Clarify general directions, but do not clarify vocabulary words, phrases, and terminology used in test items Dismiss students for misconduct During Testing Refer to pp. 17, 20, 23in the CBT TAM; pp. 16, 18-19, 21 in the PBT TAM
6) Maintain Test Security Adhere to your school’s Test Security Protocols Chain-of-custody documentation plan Breaches of test security Testing irregularities Report breaches of test security and testing irregularities immediately Refer to Section 2.13 in either TAM for your state-specific policy During Testing Refer to pp. 9-13, 23in the CBT TAM; pp. 9-12, 16-17, 21 in the PBT TAM
7) Provide Breaks (Optional) Monitor students during breaks Individual restroom breaks Classroom break of up to three minutes Ensure that students do not communicate, do not access cell phones or the internet, and are not able to see content on other students’ test materials During Testing Refer to pp. 5-6, 24in the CBT TAM; pp. 5, 22 in the PBT TAM
After administering the PARCC Field Test: Return materials to Test Coordinator Complete Test Administrator Survey After Testing
1) Return Materials to the School Test Coordinator Collect and return the following materials For CBT, Test Administrator Manual, Student Authorization Tickets, printed seal codes, all scratch paper, and headphones and calculators (if applicable) For PBT, Test Administrator Manual, test booklets, answers documents, vendor-supplied rulers, protractors and mathematics reference sheets, and all scratch paper Notify the School Test Coordinator immediately about any missing test materials After Testing:Returning Materials Refer to p. 120 in the CBT TAM; p. 144 in the PBT TAM
2) Complete Test Administrator Survey Access the survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3ZJSXH3 Information from the survey will be used to inform future PARCC testing efforts After Testing:Completing Survey Refer to p. 120 in the CBT TAM; p. 144 in the PBT TAM
If all students have completed testing at the end of initial Session Time, can the test session end?
