  4. Branches of Horticulture • Pomology • Viticulture • Floriculture • Green house management • Arboriculture • Landscape horticulture

  5. Pomology • “fruticulture” • The branch of horticulture that focuses on quality, management, and improvement of fruit production.

  6. Viticulture • Science, production, and the study grapes • wine production, and vineyard work

  7. Floriculture • Cultivation and farming of flowers • Used for floristry and gardening

  8. Greenhouse Management • The greenhouse manager oversees the cultivation of plants in a controlled environment • These plants are used for research, wholesale, or commercial use.

  9. Arboriculture • Cultivation, management, and study of trees, shrubs, vines, and perennial woody plants. • Jobs in this area often concern planting and fertilization in gardens and public places for the safety and enjoyment of people.

  10. Landscape Horticulture • Landscaping and designing public garden areas

Who Am I? • Get into groups of two • Select a sticky note out of stack provided • Describe the career on your partners head, without naming it directly, until they are able to guess which job they have. • Take turns guessing with your partner • You may use clues like: places where they would work, types of plant studied, is it found in a public place, etc.
