Sia is my neighbourand also my classmate. We were very good friends and spent a lot of time together, playing, chatting and studying. But one day, I saw Sia and some other classmates huddled in a corner and laughing at something. But when they saw me coming, they stopped and whispered something to one another.
When I asked Siawhy they all were laughing, she didn’t give a convincing reply. I just couldn’t get that thought off my mind. I had a feeling that they were laughing at me. After that I distanced myself from Sia and never spoke to her.
One day, as I was going in my car back home from school, I saw her standing on the road and waiting for a rickshaw to go home. But I didn’t offer her a ride as she had not been nice to me. She saw me drive past her..
One day - while playing, my hand got fractured. The doctor prescribed me compete rest for six weeks. My exams were a month away and I was beginning to get anxious. I was missing out on important lessons done in school. And the very thought of copying all the pending notes was driving me crazy.
The next day Siawalked in with some notebooks. “These are class notes for revision. I know you are not well, these will help you in your exams.”
Even before I could say thanks, she left. The feeling of hurt that I saw in her eyes pierced my heart and I was left with a burden of guilt weighing heavy on my heart.
I had to apologize… I had been unfair… I had not bothered to convey what I felt.. Later that day, I went over to her house, and cleared the misunderstandings only to know that they had been laughing at a small boy standing behind me who had been making faces… I felt very bad and embarrassed for having behaved badly.. But I got back my dearest friend…
