JITEP Purpose • Enhance the command’s Joint Training Program by implementing an Individual and Staff Training initiative • Institute a baseline joint training curriculum • Focus on warfighting tasks as well as those tasks essential for security cooperation and interagency coordination (command missions) • Support implementation of DoD’s Training Transformation (T2) initiatives

  4. JITEP – Desired End State Joint Training Service Training No Gap! Service Responsibilities Collective/Staff Training Individual Joint Training Exercises • A program that: • Mitigates the individual joint training gap • Provides for improved scheduling, tracking, and • reporting of joint training • Results in improved personnel performance • Provides for assessment of training

Progress • Formalized JITEP via SC Policy Memo • Establishes Joint Training Steering Committee (JTSC) and a Joint Training Working Group (JTWG) • Directs completion of baseline curriculum • Baseline established in modules • i.e. Module 1 – all personnel assigned; Module 2 – Staff who have not completed JPME II; etc. • Developed an internal JITEP portal • Established JKO Community of Interest (COI) • Serves as the command’s joint training portal • Developed five curriculums in LMS (Modules) • 234 course completions to date • Developed a Quarterly Joint Training Newsletter

JITEP - Challenges • JTWG participation • Getting the right people (O4/O5, completed JPMEII, with knowledge of Directorate functions) • Cross-walking of JMETs/JCAs: • Collective tasks → Individual Tasks → Individual Training Requirement • Identification of individual joint training requirements • A need exists for an internal system for submitting joint training requirements to the Joint Training Division • Input/output (to/from) JTS phases and JELC • Inclusion of the Interagency • Conversion of existing courses to JKO • i.e. Human Rights (test case for conversion)
