The Goals Of The Christian Ezra 7:10
To Study: • The first goal is found is Ezra 7:10 • If the word of God is able to make us complete, what else would we need to study
To Study: • The Bible is our only way of salvation, and it is by that that we are shown HOW we are to study. • The Bible says "Ezra had set his heart to study": • In loving God
To Apply What We Have Learned: • The next part of the passage in Ezra says Ezra set his heart "to practice it", "it" meaning God's Word - Jas 1:22 • By practicing truth and growing, our faith and ability to see and understand is increased - 2 Pet 1:5-7
To Apply What We Have Learned: • We are to be constantly growing in wisdom as did Christ - Lk2:52 • If we spend our time studying and doing God's Word, what time do we have left to be tempted?
To Apply What We Have Learned: • The last piece of armor, the sword of the "Spirit", brings us to the last goal.
To Teach: • The last piece of the passage in Ezra describes the third goal we should have as a Christian • If you saw someone standing in front of an oncoming care, would you not try to warn them?
To Teach: • By studying and applying God's Word, we come to know the things that we are to teach - 2 Tim 3:16-17
To Teach: • If the Apostles and disciples of the early church had never studied/applied the Scriptures, they would never have been able to teach others - Matt 28:19-20
