Short historical review • 1920: First Danish DC Sofus Larsen, Palmer graduate • 1925: Danish Association of Chiropractic Patients is established • 1935: Chiropractors are allowed to treat patients without previous medical examination
Short historical review • 1948-1951: Danish Chiropractic Course exists • 1978: Chiropractic qualifying course is established at SDU, Odense • 1992: Chiropractors become authorized by the Danish National Board of Health - thus protected by law • 1994: Programme in Clinical Biomechanics is established at SDU • 1999: First Candidates graduate
Recruitment and position • Admission in numbers • Regular uptake: 50 students each September –25 Danes, 25 from the rest of Scandinavia • 80 % get accepted based on a MCT in general knowledge, a motivational essay, an interview, work/travel experience after high school, and their GPA. • 20 % get accepted based solely on their GPA
Tuition • Free of charge at Danish Universities! • In addition Scandinavian students receive study grants from the State Education Fund.

Bachelor Programme • The first 3-years we attend the same classes as the medical students, including: • Biomedicine – anatomy, biochemistry and molecular biology, physiology, neurology, physics and farmacology • Behaviorial science – psychology, communication, ethics • Scientific theory – philosophy and medical ethics • Pathophysiology – inflammation and infection, cellgrowth and cancer • First Aid
Bachelor Programme • Classes for chiropractic students only: • Physics • Palpation • Theoretical Biomechanics • Clinical Biomechanics • Chiropractic history
Master Programme • Focus is on further development of clinical skills, general diagnosis, and radiology • Classes include • Clinical Biomechanics: • Rehabilitation and exercise, Gonstead technique, case studies, extremity techniques • General diagnosis • Radiology • Dissertation
Teaching Methods • Lectures & classes • Case-oriented & PBL
Clinical Experience • 1 year parallel courses; palpation & theoretical biomechanics • 4-5 weekly hour of clinical contact 4th semester onwards
Clinical Internships • 2 stays in a Chiropractic Clinic • 2 x 3 weeks in a hospital • 2 days a week at Ringe Back-Clinic • 1 month in a Chiropractic Clinic during the final year
Internship Programme • 1 year duration in private practice approved by the Danish Chiropractic Assosiation • Monthly meetings; continuing education • Authorization
