  2. Tundra A Tundra can be found anywhere of the part of the northern hemisphere. Tundra is the coldest of all the biomes. Tundra comes from the Finnish word tunturi meaning treeless plain. It is known for its frost-molded landscapes, really low temperatures, little precipitation, poor nutrients, and short growing seasons. Dead organic material functions as a nutrient pool.

  3. Tundra • Characteristics of a tundra are • Extremely cold climate • Low biotic diversity • Simple vegetation structure • Limitation of drainage • Short season of growth and reproduction • Energy and nutrients in the form of dead organic material • Large population oscillations • ARACTERISTICS

  4. Tundra • The tundra has two types one named Arctic and other Alpine. Alpine tundra is located on mountains through out the world at high altitude where trees cannot grow. The season time approximately 180 days . Night time temperature is usually below freezing. And is not so different from the plants the arctic has • Also the alpine soil is well drained unlike the Arctic one. .

  5. Tundra • Arctic tundra is located in the northern hemisphere, encircling the north pole and extending south to the coniferous forests of the taiga. The arctic is known for its cold, desert-like conditions.
