The Definition of Family • Ministry of Health (1988), the family is the smallest unit of society which consists of heads of families and a few people gathered and lived in one roof in a state of interdependence. • Friedman (1989), a family is two or more individuals who are members due to certain commitments to share experiences and emotional approach and identify themselves as part of the family

  3. Family Type • Keluarga Inti (Nuclear family) • Keluarga asal (Family of origin) • Keluarga besar(Extended Family) • Keluarga berantai (Social Family) • Family widower / widow (Single Family) • Keluarga komposit (Composite Family)

Family cohabitation • Incest family • Traditional and non traditional families, distinguished by the bonds of marriage. • Indonesian families generally adopt a large family type (Extended Family), because the people of Indonesia consist of various tribes living in a community with very strong traditions. Genogram • An overall picture of the family of origin and the family now (for those who are married), both the mother and father or of the husband and wife. • How it works : • starting with his own family genogram; • form a family genogram wife and / or husband and; • genogram proceed with the father and mother-in-law and family parties.   9. Benefits Data For Nurses Nurses are able to determine the problem based on the type and social status of clients, who may appear to be able to make diagnoses and nursing interventions as appropriate.
