Mechanical design stabilisation system type 1: not easy... • Changed from universal joints with flanges to square joints • (less space, increased axial stiffness) • Monolith design: advantages not so sure • Some solutions to reduce parasitic roll, but increased stresses • Solution found to decrease weight without changing stiffness • 3 actuator solution studied: good solution but $$$ • But possibility to make SiC girder continuous to save money. • Integrationsensors: inertialreference mass • We have to deliver a prototype Work in progress: T1 test module 1&2 M. Status design Main Beam Quad support: Alignment + stabilisation Functional performance testing + development time: Study and try assembly Requires controlled stable environment (Temperature, Vibrations, Access) Demonstration feasibility + ultimate performance Water cooling + powering magnet Test module location not adapted for this. Magneticmeasurements and fiducialisation ISR Installation Test module Integration in test module, connections to other modules, robust show case, transport, … Demonstration alignment and stabilization but not representative for CLIC tunnel Proposal: Build two MBQ modules, upgradable

  4. For type 1 test module: Freeze some choices, simplify and start construction drawings. Construction second set mini CAM movers (+ possibility to implement upgrade) Construction stabilisation support will be based on Rexroth profiles and aluminium stiffeners Build second yoke (for test precision machining and assembly) + dummy coils (fast prototyping ?) Test assembly with dummy actuators Construction can be upgraded. Ignore the parasitic roll at the beginning Real inertial sensors will take longer to be developed with the help of industry

Tentative first planning Type 1 • Test module: • Alignment stage test-module, base, pre-alignment stage : two months : end July (t.b.c. by Hélène) • Purchase more piezo actuators: ~ 3 months • Stabilisation test module version 1 space holder, dummy actuators: end July • Construction type 1 yoke + dummy coil : still to be estimated • ISR MBQ: • Alignment stage cams: to be tested/ calibrated separately , available for ISR installation estimated: End July, interface stabilisation should be ready then as well • Stabilisation stage: Ready end August • More detailed planning to be prepared for next meeting + progress reporting 1&2

Pre-series production electronics Preparation/ testing outsourcing • First iteration electronics • Analogue board: • FB+FF 1 degree of freedom • 9 currently available • More can be easily ordered at CERN • Hybrid board • FB+FF 1 degree of freedom • Allows remote digital control • 4 prototypes available • Future work • Quality control • Improved hybrid version with 2 DOF • Modify components for radiation

  8. Manpower tight MME: 2 designers available for CLIC/CTF3 End of June: third designer available. Engineers: Marco (% until end 2012) + Kurt 1&2
