Purpose: What is Unmet Needs? An opportunity to apply for additional Part B supplemental funds if the school has an increase in: • Increase high needs or • 10% increase of students with disabilities from the previous year - Schools can apply for only Priority 1 or 2, not both. - School must attach a list of students by NASIS numbers only 3. As a school what should I consider whether to apply for Unmet Needs: • Level of Determination is Meets Requirements • Coordinated Early Intervening Service (CEIS) - Non-participation for SY2016-17 • Student attrition – SY2015-16 student count versus SY2016-17 student count. • Funding from: • 15% ISEPbase funds for Special Education program • SY 2015-16 Carry-over and • Current Part B funds/allocation received for SY2016-17
How to apply • Complete the application located on the BIE website -http://www.bie.edu/Programs/SpecialEd/index.htm • Attach the school’s current Student list with NASIS # numbers only with Priority 1 or 2. Signed by the school administrator • FAX Unmet Needs application; Attention: Connie Albert at 505-563-5281 • Due Monday in September 12, 2016
BIE-DPA Process • Application review • Assess student count data from SY2015-16 and submitted student count. • Evaluate all funds the schools has received. • Review all IEP’s in NASIS (current and locked) • Read and review Unique Circumstances • Notify schools of results and submit FDD request
