  2. ZEUS • Zeus was the supreme god of the Olympians. • Symbol: lightening bolt • Fact: Married his sister Hera…ewh!

  3. Hera • Hera was the goddess of marriage. She was the wife of Zeus and Queen of the Olympians. • Symbol: Wedding Rings • Fact: She is jealous

  4. APHRODITE • Aphrodite was the goddess of love, beauty and fertility. She was also a protectress of sailors. • Symbol: Heart • Fact: Can make people fall in love or hate each other

  5. ARES • Ares was the god of war, or more precisely of warlike frenzy. • Symbol: Arrow • Fact: He was a big cry baby

  6. HEPHAESTUS • Hephaestus was the lame god of fire and crafts or the two together, hence of blacksmiths. • Symbol: Fire • Fact: Married to Aphrodite

  7. ARTEMIS • Artemis was the goddess of the hunt. She helped women in childbirth, but also brought sudden death with her arrows. • Symbol: Bow and Arrow • Fact: Twin of Apollo

  8. DIONYSUS • Dionysus was the god of wine and parties. • Symbol: Grapes • Fact: Gave King Midas his golden touch.

  9. HERMES • Hermes was the messenger of the gods and guide of dead souls to the Underworld. • Symbol: Envelope • Fact: Invented the lyre (muscial instrument.)

  10. POSEIDON • Poseidon was the god of the sea, earthquakes and horses. Although he was officially one of the supreme gods of Mount Olympus, he spent most of his time in his watery domain. • Symbol: Trident • Fact: Brother of Zeus and Hades

  11. APOLLO • Apollo was the god of prophesy, music and healing. • Symbol: Lyre • Fact: he always gets involved with humans.

  12. ATHENA • Athena was the goddess of crafts and the domestic arts and also those of war and wisdom. She was the patron goddess of Athens. • Symbol: Owl • Fact: Born from Zeus’s head.

  13. DEMETER • Demeter was the goddess of agriculture. She was the sister of Zeus. • Symbol: Crops • Fact: Mother of Persephone.

  14. HADES • Hades was the God of the dead and ruler of the Underworld, which was called Hades after the god. Hades abducted Persephone, who became his queen. • Symbol: Three headed best • Fact: Brother of Zeus and Poseidon

  15. Persephone • Goddess of the Underworld • Wife of Hades – She was taken by Hades and made his bride • Daughter of Demeter • The goddess of spring and growth

  16. Hestia • Goddess of hearth and home. • She presided over the cooking of the bread and making of the meal. • She was also the goddess of the sacred flame. She was the first born child of Kronos and Rhea.
