Status of TP muon chapter • March 25 released 65-page draft v2.6 for March 28 first reading • Fabrizio organized a muon reading group • Many good comments received, thanks! • Now at 45 pages including references • Excellent progress – more concise and now mostly readable… • Still chubby with respect to 30 page quota • Still rough in spots

A specific example – the Performance section • Critical to the approval of the upgrades • Inmy opinion: • It should link to the physics section not yet prepared (one has to anticipate what it will contain) • It should link seamlessly to the measured hit rates presented earlier in the background section of the Longevity chapter • It needs to take into account the Track Trigger • It seems to end on a whimper, not a bang • It needs to be more concise. Although 3 pp guideline was perhaps too stringent, we cannot afford 9 for this section: perhaps 6-7 would be a reasonable compromise for now.

  4. Next release of TP muon chapter – when? • Previous plan was to release today (in current form) • Just to the muon internal reading group • The 2nd internal reading to take place on Friday May 2 afternoon • Or give 24 hours for smoothing… • Or one week delay… • Most authors vote for some kind of delay, but… • What is the opinion of the Performance section contact people, and availability to work on it? • What is the opinion of the reader group?

Upcoming events • May 8-9 workshop at Fermilab • “Upgrade TP Performance Studies Group Workshop” • Driven by the TP Performance Studies group, obviously • Connected to PAGs and muon POG group • One 45’ talk “Muon performances” by SlavaKrutelyov • NB our Muon POG contacts with Upgrade are Cesare Calabria and Tae Jeong Kim (can’t make it to the meeting) • Precursor to… • May 19 muon physics workshop at CERN • Need to discuss the agenda
