Day One, Oct. 30 6:35- Family arrives in Frankfurt (direct from Calgary, Alberta) 8:30- take a flight to Berlin 10:00- arrive in Berlin 10:15- Take a bus to Best Western Hotel, 135$/night (Frankfurter Allee 57) 1:15- take Bus to Charlottenburg 2:00-5:00- shop at Europa Centre- Directly across from the Keiser-Wilhelm Memorial church, this classic mall containing 100 shops and numerous restaurants is the perfect shopping center for kids of all ages. Also contains a spatious cinema if you’re looking to take a break from walking. -or Stilwerk- An architecturally beautiful mall housing four floors and 57 stores -or New Kranzler Eck- This newly-built mall contains many small boutiques and is seating close to the famous Cafe Kranzler, known for it’s uique architectural style. 5:00-7:00- eat supper in mall -eat supper at the Piraten restaurant in Charlottenburg 7:00- take a bus back to the hotel.
Day Two, Oct. 31 8:00-9:30- Breakfast in the Hotel 9:30- take a taxi (30 euros) to Tiergarten 10:30-1:00- Visit Brandenburger Tor - a former city gate and one of the main symbols of Berlin and Germany. It is the only remaining gate of a series through which one formerly entered Berlin. One block to the north stands the Reichstag. Today, it is considered one of Europe's most famous landmarks - walk through park to see Victory Column- Take a walk through beautiful Teirgarten Park and see the victory column. The Siegessäule victory column was built from 1864-1873 in honour of prussian victories in war -SchlossCharlottenburg- Easily the most popular in Berlin, this beautiful palace is a famous tourist landmark. 1:00-2:00- eat lunch at Cafe Orange- In the large, light-flooded room, under a stucco ceiling decorated with art nouveau, the attractive waitstaff and the clientele celebrate coffee-house culture here. -eat lunch at BoccadiBacco- BoccadiBacco has very high quality dishes and original atmosphere. They serve homemade pasta dishes, Tuscan classics and a wide variety of Italian desserts. These deserts may be Berlins finest.
Day two, Oct. 31, cont. 2:00-5:00- Visit Reichstag- Tour the parliament building of Berlin -Go to ZoologischerGarten- With almost 1,400 different species and around 14,000 animals, the zoo presents the most comprehensive collection of species in the world. It is considered to be the most visited zoo in Europe and one of the most popular worldwide. -Judisches Museum Berlin- Journey back to the past in the Jewish Museum that covers two millennia of German Jewish history. It consists of two buildings. One is the old Kollegienhaus, a former courthouse, built in the 18th century. This was one of the first buildings in Berlin designed after German reunification. 5:00-7:00- supper at Restaurant 5 Flavor- A small and nicely furnished Chinese restaurant, which conveys a good first impression. The warm wooden tone of the tables and the seat bestow a warm and cozy ambiance in the room. The dishes were adapted to the German taste (eingedeutscht). -supper at TrattoriaOssena- This 2-floor "Schlemmertempel" (feasting temple) is centrally located near the "S-BahnhofHackischerMarkt" (S-train station "HackischerMarkt'). The famous "Oranienburger" as well as the Jewish synagogue are only a short distance away. This is a must for every visitor to Berlin. 7:00-8:30- Gendarmenmarkt- is a square in Berlin, and the site of the Konzerthaus and the French and German Cathedrals. The centre of the Gendarmenmarkt is crowned by a statue of Germany's poet Friedrich Schiller. -Tempodrom- The unique architecture of the Tempodrom, resembling a giant tent, makes it the perfect location for art shows, concerts, circuses and much more. -Paint Your Style- Design your own pottery and be creative! Great activity for the kids! 8:30- take taxi (11.5 euros)back to the hotel
Day Three, Nov 1 8:00-10:00- Eat breakfast in hotel (pack up and check out) 10:00-11:00- Take a taxi to the river 11:00-1:00 –take a boat up to Berlin-Mitte (to see the Berlin skyline) and go to the Fernsehturm – an old tv tower that now holds an observation deck so that tourists can get an all around view of the city. -go to East Side Gallery- The Gallery consists of approximately 100 paintings by artists from all over the world, painted in 1990 on the east side of the Berlin Wall. 1:00-2:00- The Sixties Diner- Back to America's 60's - that's the successful motto of this restaurant. Here, they serve everything you think represents the "American way of life", from Tex-Mex-dishes, like nachos and fajitas, to burgers and cocktails. -Good Morning Vietnam- Nice, Vietnamese restaurant in the center of town. Since here in the old SchönhauserStraße there is another well- known Vietnamese restaurant, it took a while until the "Good Morning Vietnam" became known, but it's absolutley worth your while. 2:00-5:00- walk to Bebelplatz, a famous and beautiful German square, to shop, eat lunch, look around, view memorial 5:00-7:00- Eat supper in Berlin-mitte at Die Zwölf Apostel
