BnP DEWG Nov-Dec 2013 Quad Chart Activities and Accomplishments Upcoming Key Milestones and Activities Will work with staff to coordinate SGIP breakfast at NARUC • 1 meeting held (Nov-1) • Presentation on the areas and need for data usage agreements. Some feel that such form agreements would be helpful for the RECs when asked to share data with research institutions, the IOU and regulatory members were not sure any work needed to be undertaken at this time. Interested members may continue to work on specific data sharing agreements and issues to present to the membership at a later date to see if consensus exists to revisit the topic Deliverables Issues, Concerns, and Help Needed • Need more regulators from key states to participate in the BnP

DRGS DEWG Nov-Dec 2013 Quad Chart (2) Activities and Accomplishments Upcoming Key Milestones and Activities DRGS-E: Next draft of white Paper on “Potential Regulatory Barriers and Challenges to Deployment of Distributed Generation and Storage” in January 2014 will wrap up net metering and PV sections and begin drafting language for CHP issues/concerns PAP 21: Schedule webinar series and begin holding PAP 21 meetings by January • DRGS-D: DRGS DEWG Subgroup D charter is completed and being reviewed by DRGS DEWG • DRGS-E: Partial draft of DRGS DEWG Subgroup E White Paper on “Potential Regulatory Barriers and Challenges to Deployment of Distributed Generation and Storage” being reviewed by the DRGS Subgroup E • DRGS-F: DRGS DEWG Subgroup F draft charter is complete and being reviewed by Subgroup F Issues, Concerns, and Help Needed Deliverables • None
EMIIWG Nov-Dec 2013 Quad Chart Activities and Accomplishments Upcoming Key Milestones and Activities White paper related to a recommended practice for EMC testing of Smart Grid devices. (20144Q) • 2 meetings held (Nov-1; Dec-1) • Developing the outline and scope of a new white paper related to a recommended practice for EMC testing of Smart Grid devices • Received word that IEEE 1613.1 “Standard Environmental and Testing Requirements for Communications Networking Devices Installed in Transmission and Distribution Facilities” has been approved by the IEEE and will be published. The impetus for developing this standard was the EMC testing gaps in IEEE 1613 identified in the EMIIWG White Paper. EMIIWG members John Tengdin and Jerry Ramie were instrumental in developing this new standard and bringing it to consensus and publication in a very short time Issues, Concerns, and Help Needed Deliverables • None
Gas Technology WG Nov-Dec 2013 Quad Chart Activities and Accomplishments Upcoming Key Milestones and Activities New PAP Request expected (2014 1Q) • 1 meeting held (Nov-1) • Creation of PAP in progress- The subject matter is to specify a pressure monitoring device that is compliant and interoperable with the SGIP CoS. The pressure monitoring device addresses one distribution automation need of the natural gas industry. This effort is to be a test user case and prototype for further work within the Gas Technology WG Deliverables Issues, Concerns, and Help Needed • Need assistance from staff with administration of meetings
H2G DEWG Nov-Dec 2013 Quad Chart Activities and Accomplishments Upcoming Key Milestones and Activities White paper entitled Demand Responsive Residential Appliances Interface with the Smart Grid White paper entitled Economic Value of Demand Response In the Electric Energy Market • 5 meetings held (Nov-3; Dec-2) • Solicited comments on proposed CEA-2047, Energy Usage Information, standard for gathering energy usage data from residential devices and appliances in collaboration with the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) • Explained the potential impact of Transactive Energy on consumers in collaboration with the B2G DEWG. • Presentation on Distributed Energy Resources as part of the H2G DEWG investigation of microinverters. • Presentation on TIA-1194, Surge Resistibility of Smart Grid Equipment Connected to either DC or 120/240 V Single Phase AC and Metallic Communication Lines as a possible candidate for CoS Deliverables Issues, Concerns, and Help Needed • Broadcast-based H2G Communication Solutions white paper completed and delivered to the SGIP Technical Committee. A tutorial on FM-based broadcast communications was presents as a prelude to investigating formats for energy management data. (Nov 2014) • None
TnD DEWG Nov-Dec 2013 Quad Chart Activities and Accomplishments Upcoming Key Milestones and Activities • 3 meetings held (Nov-2; Dec-1) • TBLM figures were updated and the COMFEDE is now covered in the model. A new scenario 15 comprising a sequence of events log has been added. Work has begun on the messages, but new object models required was submitted for the December meeting • TnD Charter being updated and was compared with the DRGS to charter to make sure that they are aligned appropriately. The was a perceived need to define the scope more narrowly and add specifics to the deliverables to align with scope Issues, Concerns, and Help Needed Deliverables • The IEEE 1547 Workshop was discussed and there was concern expressed by the addition of the word “interoperability” to the scope of the standard as well as overlap between IEEE 1547 and SEP 2.0; both standards appear to be going beyond their original scopes.
V2G DEWG Nov-Dec 2013 Quad Chart Activities and Accomplishments Upcoming Key Milestones and Activities PAP 22 focus for the next three months is the completion of the NEMA Guide to achieve consensus on the specified submetering requirements and the standards gap analysis. The evaluation of regulatory impacts is to evolve with the outcomes from the CPUC pilot process, scheduled to begin 20142Q 2 meetings held (Nov-1; Dec-1) • V2G DEWG is in the process of forming a new workgroup for advanced use cases involving vehicle telematics for charge management • Discussion on CPUC Alternative Fuel vehicle proceedings and recent plan on submetering pilots. • Discussion on EPRI initiatives in vehicle to grid communication • PAP 22 has established a separate Liaison Coordination Team with key representatives from NEMA, NIST, ANSI, and PAP22 to ensure the efforts of each organization is coordinated and augment each other, do not unnecessarily overlap or duplicate efforts Issues, Concerns, and Help Needed Deliverables • Requested subject matter expert for 25 hours to assist in reviewing ANSI C12 and NIST Weight and Measures HB-44 standards for submetering requirements and provide review of current state of the standards • EIS Alliance contacted to participate in new workgroup for advanced use cases but no significant progress has been made
