Eligibility NCEXTEND2 p.1 All students in membership at grades 3–8 for reading and math and at grades 5 and 8 for science whose IEPs designate the use of NCEXTEND2 for reading comprehension and/or mathematics and/or science for testing purposes Exceptions: Students with current IEPs identified as LEP scoring below Level 4.0 Expanding on the state-identified English language proficiency reading placement test and are in their first year in U.S. schools are not required to be assessed on the reading part of the NCEXTEND2. Students are required to participate in the mathematics and science tests Students granted a medical exception To be Eligible for NCEXTEND2: Must have current IEP Does not have only a current 504 Plan If LEP, must also have a current IEP Is not identified as having a significant cognitive disability Is not receiving instruction in the NCSCS through theExtended Content Standards Is not likely to achieve grade-level proficiency within the school year covered by the IEP
Schedule NCEXTEND2 pp.2-3 • NHCS will only administer one EOG per day • NCEXTEND2 tests should be administered as early in the school day as the school schedule permits. • All students at the same grade level within a school must be administered the appropriate EOG at the same time on the same day. • Students who are provided the Scheduled Extended Time accommodation may not begin the test administration sooner than the school’s schedule for the regular test administration. • Multiple Testing Sessions must begin on the same day as the general test administration but may continue beyond the school’s schedule for the regular test administration if the IEP designates the sessions are to stretch across multiple days. • Testing grade levels in two subjects (e.g., Mathematics and Science) on the same day is prohibited. • Students at different grade levels cannot be administered tests in the same classroom.
Administration Time No max. time. After est. time, give students a 3-minute break every 30 minutes. After est. time, give students a 3-minute break every 60 minutes.
Types of Assessment Items p. 5 (Online 6) • The English Language Arts/Reading and Science assessments include all multiple-choice items. • The ONLINE Mathematics assessments include multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank items. • Mathematics fill-in-the-blank items are found at grades 5 – 8. • The PAPER/PENCIL Mathematics assessments include multiple-choice and gridded response items. • Gridded-response items are found at grades 5 – 8. • All assessments contain field items that do not count toward or against a student’s score.
Before Test Day pp. 6-9 (Online 7-10) • Prepare for training. • Distribute Assessment Guide (AG) PRIOR to training • Test administrators must read thoroughly before attending school-based training • Read and Study the Testing Code of Ethics (Appendix E). • Follow Security Procedures. • No part of test or AG may be reproduced. • Properly manage materials. • Test administrators who provide read-aloud accommodations must NOT divulge contents of test.
Roving Proctors p. 9 (Online 10) • Roving proctors are NOT permitted in NHCS for EOG testing.

Before Test Day pp. 13-15 (Online 15-16) • Monitor students during the assessment. • Do not indicate answers to students. • Asking students to look at question again • Making facial expressions • Pointing to correct answers • Misadministrations • Misalignment during testing (paper/pencil pages 14-15) • In the least disruptive manner TA should notify the student that the responses are misaligned. • In rare cases, it may be appropriate for the TA to direct student to begin circling the correct answers in the test booklet and correct the rest of the assessment after testing in a secure group setting (3 or more people) • In some cases it may be appropriate to end the testing session and report an irregularity.
Before Test Day pp. 16-17; (Online 17) • Student emergencies and restroom breaks • One student at a time • TA and proctor must remain in room. • Secure test materials (Online select PAUSE). • Note the time. • Accommodations • LEP/EC/504 • Must be documented in PLAN • Must be routinely used • Test administrators MUST be trained on testing accommodations prior to testing session
Before Test Day pp. 17-19; (Online 18-20) • Students with Transitory Impairments • An impairment with a duration of six months or less • Complete Transitory Impairment form and FAX to Testing Office • Complete the Review of Accommodations forms for LEP/IEP/504 Plans. • EC Accommodations: GoalviewState Testing Accommodations report • LEP Accommodations: EllevationsState Testing Accommodations report • Report testing violations. • Complete Student Interface Questions (SIQs) • Answer sheets will NOT be precoded • Students are not allowed to code their names, student ID, etc.
Procedures for Students Completing Assessment Before Scheduled Time is Over pp. 19-20 • Collect all student materials and “End Test” on computer. • Student may read a novel or other NON-textbook. • Students may put their heads down on their desks. • If ALL students have completed the assessment before the end of the scheduled time, the test administrator may end the testing session early. • Read the words in the section, Read to Announce the End of the Testing Session. • Do not dismiss until instructed to do so by test coordinator or principal.
Paper Clip Student Test Booklets p.21 • Test administrator must paper clip the student’s test booklet before the student begins the calculator active section on the mathematics assessment. • Test administrator must paper clip for lunch breaks for students who have multiple test sessions.

Follow a Uniform Process for Test Administration pp. 25-26; (Online pp. 26-28) • Testing: Do Not Disturb sign • Quiet, well-lighted room • Instructional materials removed • Clear desks. • Test administrator must be present at all times. • Read directions as written (may repeat). • No cell phones • Monitor accommodations. • Students may read a novel/non-text when complete.
On Test Day ONLINE ONLY (Online pp. 28-29) • Complete BEFORE students enter room • School test coordinator or test administrator: Turn on computers and log into the computer using the special testing login (sticker inside packet) • Approx 30-40 minutes BEFORE students enter, launch NCTest Secure Browser • Select assessment name. • Enter your NCEducation username and password. • Select student name • Ensure the screen is set to the START page, but DO NOT click start.
On Test Day ONLINE ONLY p. 27; (Online p. 29) • Complete AS students enter room. • Instruct student to sit at assigned seat. • Instruct student NOT to begin assessment until prompted. • Complete AFTER students enter room. • Circulate to confirm student is seated at correct computer. • Confirm START button is on screen.
New Instructions Math 1 p. 41; (Online p.47) • Transition from Calculator Inactive to Active • Test administrator MUST collect all used graph paper and scrap paper before distributing calculators. • Additional scrap/graph paper will be distributed.
