Data Synchronisation Issues Synchronisation issues arise due to one of the following: • Incorrect configuration at POS or HO • Connectivity problem • Import/Export malfunction • Acknowledgement files not received
Configuration Gone Wrong • Shoper 9 POS or Shoper 9 HO is continuously generating data files in wrong format during synchronisation Reason • The mode of communication selected is different at POS and HO • The file format set during synchronisation configuration is wrong • Synchronisation setting in business template installed at POS is wrong • Incorrect HO code provided during synchronisation configuration at POS Solution • Verify Synchronisation settings configured at HO and POS
Configuration Gone Wrong - Solution • Verify that the sync settings configured at HO are updated at POS • Mode of communication and related settings are similar at HO and POS • Correct file formats are updated at POS • In case of Direct Copy, verify that the path for data exchange folders is entered correctly at both locations
Connectivity Issues • Shoper 9 POS/Shoper 9 HO is creating data files, but is unable to send the files to transfer the files Reason • Internet disconnected in case of HTTP, FTP or Mail (mode of communication) • Firewall/ Antivirus program blocking access to upload folder Solution • Verify the connectivity components for FTP, HTTP, Mail and Direct Copy
Connectivity Issues - Solution • Verify whether permission is provided to access FTP folder, HTTP link • User can verify the HTTP link connection by entering the server address in web browser
Connectivity Issues - Solution • Ensure the Mail client in use and the E-mail program selected in Internet options is the same
Import/ Export Malfunction • Shoper 9 POS/Shoper 9 HO is unable to extract data and export or import the received data files Reason • Null values in the data fields of the received file • Data is restored at POS due to which it is unable to extract and export • Data is restored at POS due to which HO is unable to import data received data Solution • Examine the log files to verify the exact reason and take necessary action based on the error displayed
Acknowledgement File (Not Received) • Shoper 9 POS is unable to extract data during scheduled synchronisation Reason • Extraction process fails at Shoper 9 POS when the acknowledgement file for the last synchronisation is not received from HO or unavailable in the defined folder Solution • Verify whether the POS data for respective date is loaded at HO. In case data is not loaded, load the data to receive acknowledgement from HO
Reports Shoper 9 POS/Shoper 9 HO are provided with reports that enable you to ascertain the success/failure of synchronisation process. Sync Status Report • Available at POS, this report give you the success/failure status of different task in synchronisation process, from extraction of data to loading of data received from HO into POS database. Dashboard Report • Available at HO, this report gives the showroom wise, distributor wise, batch wise file loaded / not loaded status with reason for not loading.
How to ascertain the cause of Sync issues? • The reason for failure of synchronisation is recorded in various log files in Shoper 9 POS/Shoper 9 HO • Log files are created in <application folder>\Share\log directory The files in Shoper 9 POS/ Shoper 9 HO that record synchronisation errors.
Details in Log Files • CCC-download.log – Displays the activity performed pertaining to downloading of files sent from HO • ImportError.log – Displays files imported into POS database and also errors occurred during import • Experror.log – Displays the file extracted during the synchronisation phase and also it displays any error occurred during the extraction phase • CCC-upload.log – Displays the files uploaded via communication mode and errors for not uploading the same • Agentschedule.log – Displays the various activities performed by the sync agent i.e. Agent evoke, stop, exit, last agent run, next schedule, etc.
Details in Log Files • OfflineloadingMMDD.log – Displays the files which are downloaded via defined communication mode • DataloadingMMDD.log – Displays loading status of the files downloaded and also gives the reason for not loading
Guidelines and Best Practices • Do’s • Configure synchronisation options at POS and HO as per your requirements, test them in real time conditions • Create exception list in Firewall and Antivirus programs to allow access to upload and download folders used for Shoper 9 Data Synchronisation • Check Internet/Other Network connections regularly • Don’ts • Do not restore the database unnecessarily • Do not try to change the sync configuration options in one application without prior communication with the partner application
