Polarized Proton Run-6 Machine Set Up • Cool-Down Mode : 2 weeks (02/01-02/13) -> completed • StartUp Mode: 2 weeks (02/13-02/28) (3 shifts per day) • Injection setup (02/13-02/17) -> completed • Ramp development (02/17-02/23) -> completed 6 bunch ramps with up to 1e11 p/bunch. Rotator ramp. • Store development (02/23-02/28) -> underway 6-56 bunch ramps; up to 1.5e11 p/bunch already started • RampUp Mode: 1 week(03/01-03/07) ( Owl shift for experiment setup)111 bunch development • Physics Running (03/08- ) 02/28/06 Time Meeting V.Ptitsyn

Present Status of Machine Setup • Main achievement during the last week: • 56 bunch pp28 and rotator ramps with more than 90% transmission efficiencies • 56 bunch stores for the detector setup overnight started. (Rotators off) • 111 bunch injection with 1-1.2e11 p/bunch. One successful 111 bunch ramp (including rotators) • CNI polarimeter setup continued. Polarization measurements at the store. Problems with polarimeter targets were found (especially in Yellow) • Polarization and transverse emittance dependence on the bunch intensity was measured • Development of the main store (with the rotators on) has been done and collisions steered there 02/28/06 Time Meeting V.Ptitsyn

  4. 111 bunches. First test. Worst vacuum observed in IR6 and IR8 common regions but experimental magnets were off In Blue single beam warm sections the vacuum deterioration is less than last run 02/28/06 Time Meeting V.Ptitsyn

  9. Start of Physics running • Suggested conditions for the start of physics running: • Reproducible polarization >45% at the store. • Luminosity at 25% level of required (achievable with 56 bunches) • Acceptable background situation. • It is not improbable to achieve these conditions to the end of this week • Further increasing the luminosity may be done during the first weeks of Physics running (going to 111 bunches) 02/28/06 Time Meeting V.Ptitsyn
