Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership • REEEP is an international public‑private partnership that was established at the 2002 Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development to expand the global market for renewable energy and energy efficiency • 170 partners - 30 governments, multinational organisations, businesses and NGOs • REEEP is currently funded by various governments including Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, EU, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, US, and UK

REEEP Objectives“Generate green kilowatts & save energy” REEEP aims to work as an enabler, multiplier and catalyser of institutional change, and to have a real impact over the next decade with the following objectives: • Significant global increase of investments in renewable energy • Significant global increase of energy efficiency measures • Significant increase in access to sustainable energy services for the poor

  5. REEEP Programmes REEEP programmes focus on two core themes 1. Policy and Regulation “Establishing the Rules to Encourage Clean Kilowatts” • Innovative Financing “Funding to Turn Concepts into Power”

Examples of ongoing Finance Support • Renewable Energy Exchange – South East Asia • Innovative financing for solar water heating in Brazil and the Caribbean • Facilitating Finance for the Biodiesel Industry in Zambia, Lesotho and Tanzania • Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Bio-Ethanol Project

  11. Currently 150 partners: • 30 Governments • 120 international organizations, NGOs and companies Delivering Value via Regional Secretariats

Role of the Regional Secretariat • Work with local NGOs, governments and financing institutions to Act as a clearing house of RE/EE information • Facilitate dialogue and manage discussions among regional players • Provide access to technical expertise • Convene national partners • Support technical assistance/ capacity building activities
